Innovation happening at an unprecedented rate…

I spent some time at the Internet Retailer Conference & Expo show here in Chicago last week, and walked away thinking that we are now in the most innovative time in my working history.

The examples are everywhere, not the least of which was the 5x growth in the IR show from 2008 to 2010.  I had numerous discussions with clients about the digital channel and the opportunities they are seeing. We discussed everything from new brand launches to digital downloads, and talked B2B, B2B, B2B2C.  All of these organizations are using social – and plan on expanding it for marketing and customer acquisition.

We discussed Mary Meeker’s speech @ the CM Summit earlier in the week.   I’ve always been a big fan of hers and was taken aback by some of her predictions.  Here’s a sample:

  • 100MM PC sold globally in 1990. Over 10B mobile web units will be sold in the world this year.
  • It took RIM 300 plus days to sell 1M blackberry’s. It took Apple about 8 days to sell 1M iPads.
  • She sees a $50B global opportunity for Online Ad growth.

I’m excited to be in the middle of all of this stuff and love the fact that we are helping to shape some of this for our customers…
